Forward Zach Hamill signed a one-year contract with HPK of Finland's SM-Liiga, according to the club's official website.

Drafted eighth overall by the Boston Bruins in 2007, the 25-year-old appeared in only 20 NHL games, registering four assists.

Placed on waivers by the Bruins in 2012, Hamill was later traded to the Washington Capitals; one year later, he signed a two-way contract with the Vancouver Canucks, but spent the past two years plying his trade in the AHL, with a brief stint in the KHL last season.

Hamill does possess a Stanley Cup ring after being recalled by the Bruins during their run to the championship in 2011; his name, however, is not engraved on the trophy.

HPK head coach Pasi Arvonen said Hamill is a "skilled striker" who will "strengthen" the team's work ethic.
