Timberwolves to hire shooting coach for Ricky Rubio

Marilyn Indahl-USA TODAY Sports / reuters

Change your shot, be happy! Flip Saunders and the Minnesota Timberwolves are tired of seeing point guard Ricky Rubio bricking shots at the rim.

Through the first three seasons of his career, Rubio has not once managed to inch his shooting percentage above 40 percent, topping out at a career high 38.1 percent last season. He also doesn't shoot well on three-pointers either, having connected on less than a third of his career attempts.

But where Rubio truly struggles is in the restricted area, where he sunk a league-worst 47.9 percent of his attempts last season. Despite his flashy style of play, he's far better at setting up his teammates than he is at scoring on his own. The Timberwolves hope the hiring of a shooting coach will help correct these issues.
