Arsenal have a void to fill at centre-back after the departure of Thomas Vermaelen to Barcelona, and are considering a Greece international to provide cover for Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.

The Telegraph's Matt Law reports Olympiakos defender Kostas Manolas is on Arsenal's radar. Manolas was named as one of the World Cup's 50 best players by The Telegraph.

Law states, however, that it's uncertain whether Manolas would accept being a backup.

The 23-year-old was left out of Olympiakos' squad for their game against Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday, strengthening rumours that the defender could be on his way out.

Manolas made 49 appearances for the Greek giants since 2012, and 13 for the Greece national team since making his international debut last year.
