Twins activate Joe Mauer from 15-day DL

Jesse Johnson / USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Twins will have Joe Mauer back in the lineup Monday for the first time since July 1, according to Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Hampered by an oblique strain for nearly six weeks, Mauer appeared in just four rehabilitation games for Low-A Cedar Rapids, going 6-for-15 (.400) as he recuperated in the Midwest League.

The club did not immediately disclose precisely who Mauer will replace on the activate roster, but it appears Kennys Vargas will remain with the Twins after hitting .297/.366/.405 with one home run and one double through his first nine games in the majors.
