Report: Fabio Borini 'playing hard to get' in proposed £14-million move to Sunderland

While some reports have suggested that Fabio Borini is rejecting a move from Liverpool to Sunderland altogether, it seems that the Italian striker is simply "playing hard to get."

Borini, who scored 10 goals during his loan stint at Sunderland last season, is reportedly set for a permanent, £14-million move to the Black Cats. However, he needs to agree to personal terms, and more persuasion may be needed in convincing him to join Sunderland.

Following his side's 2-1 win over Preston North End on Saturday, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers stressed that the two clubs have an agreement in place and that Borini is the one holding up the move.

"They've offered to buy Fabio and that's where it's at," Rodgers said. "There is an agreement between the clubs, but nothing is agreed with the player as of yet. So he's still very much a Liverpool player, but when that changes, I'm sure you'll be among the first to know."

Sunderland manager Gus Poyet echoed Rodgers' description following his side's 5-1 win at Darlington.

"What I can say is that we have agreed [a deal] with Liverpool, we are waiting for correspondence and then we move on from there," Poyet said.

In short, Liverpool wants to sell and Sunderland wants to buy. Come on, Borini.
