VIDEO: Argentina - Netherlands not for the faint-hearted

The semifinal match between Argentina and the Netherlands is providing more blows to the head than it is goals in the back of the net.

There have been three incidents during the match that looked to have produced serious head injuries, but each player involved remained in the game after receiving minimal treatment on the sidelines.

Argentina's Javier Mascherano was the first to take a knock on the head when he and Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum collided in mid-air. The Argentine jumped back on his feet, but looked dazed and fell to the ground soon after (video below). He remained in the game after a brief stint with the the medical staff.

The next incident took place in the second half when defender Daryl Janmaat and Lucas Biglia clashed heads. Janmaat took the brunt of the impact, however, he was deemed fit to return after a meeting with trainers.

The third, and probably most violent, occurred in extra time when Argentina defender Pablo Zabaleta was on the wrong end of a flying Dirk Kuyt shoulder to the jaw. The impact, when replayed in slow motion, was violent and remiscent of a boxer taking a punch to the jaw. He too left the field and returned moments later.
