MILAN - Former Inter Milan boss Andrea Stramaccioni has taken over at Udinese on a two-year deal, the Serie A club announced.

Stramaccioni was replaced by Walter Mazzarri after being put on gardening leave following Inter's ninth-place league finish at the end of the 2012-2013 campaign.

The 38-year-old has now agreed a contract pay-off from the Nerazzurri to be able to replace Francesco Guidolin at northern club Udinese, who finished 13th in Serie A.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Udinese Calcio announces the appointment of Andrea Stramaccioni as manager of the first team.

"His two-year contract begins on July 1, 2014."
