Former world champion Damon Hill praised Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix.

Hamilton is dominating the opposition this season having won four consecutive races, prompting Hill to believe the 29-year-old will be extremely difficult to beat due to his fine form.

"Up until this season, it always looked like Lewis's focus could go at any time. He now seems to have the demeanor of someone who is totally content," Hill stated via BBC

"I do wonder if he is just cruising. I think he has another gear. He is so focused on the job, I think he will be almost impossible to beat."

Hamilton is currently atop the standings with 100 points, three points ahead of teammate Nico Rosberg and an astonishing 51 points ahead of Ferrari's Fernando Alonso.

Despite winning four consecutive races with an average time of 1:38:50.552, former F1 driver Derek Warwick believes Hamilton has even more to offer.

"I think there is another gear and I think you'll see it at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix in July, in front of his home fans," Warwick stated.

"Great drivers find a level and are able to raise their game to reach it. Just think of Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Nigel Mansell and now Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton."

Hamilton finished fourth during last season's Monaco Grand Prix, collecting 12 points.
