VIDEO: Tracy McGrady struggles in Independent League pitching debut
Tracy McGrady made his long-anticipated debut on the bump for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the Independent League on Saturday. It went about as well as most expected, which is to say it didn't go particularly well.
McGrady lasted just 1-2/3 innings against Somerset, surrendering two runs on two hits and two walks, including a home run off of former major leaguer Edwin Maysonet.
The seven-time NBA All-Star threw 35 pitches, only 18 of which went for strikes. He was missing often, high and low.
Still, he's now achieved his goal of playing professional baseball. It's unclear whether his tenure will continue or if it was a one-time thing, but depending on where the attendance figure lands, we'd be willing to bet he'll have another chance to trim that 10.80 ERA.
