Report: Knicks could sign Odom before end of season

Phil Jackson must have liked what he heard during last week's sit-down with Lamar Odom, because sources tell ESPN.com the New York Knicks are considering signing Odom before the end of the season.

Signing Odom before the end of the season on Wednesday would allow New York to work with him during the summer and determine whether the 34-year-old can contribute to an NBA roster in 2014-15. Odom played a brief stint in Spain after he was unable to find an NBA job this season.

If the Knicks qualified for the playoffs and signed Odom by Wednesday, he would be eligible to join their playoff roster, but the back injury that cut short his year in Spain means the possibility of Odom playing again this year is slim.
