Arouna Kone: To Undergo Knee Surgery

Kone is expected to undergo knee surgery and could potentially miss the rest of the 2013-14 Premier League season, reports the Liverpool Echo. Everton manager, Roberto Martinez, fears the worst after an exam revealed Kone had loose cartilage in his knee that needs repaired. However, he has not been ruled out for the rest of the season as an exact return date will not be known until after surgery.

Kone followed manager Roberto Martinez from Wigan to Everton in hopes of improving the Everton attack. However, with the signing of Romelu Lukaku, Kone made only five appearances as a substitute before getting injured against Hull in mid-October.
