Reds sign speedster Jason Bourgeois to minor-league deal

The Reds helped fortify their outfielder depth on Saturday, signing speedster Jason Bourgeois to a minor-league deal, according to Baseball America's Matt Eddy.

The 31-year-old became a free agent after refusing an outright assignment to the minors with the Tampa Bay Rays.  Though he appeared in just nine games this season, Bourgeois is only two years removed from swiping 31 bases over 93 games with the Houston Astros.

The Texas native owns a career .631 OPS in 213 games, but has hit .308/.355/.397 against left-handed pitching.  Bourgeois has converted 78 percent of his career stolen-base attempts.
