Smith has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 sprain of his right calf and will be sidelined for 6-to-8 weeks, CSN New England reports.

Playing on the Celtics' summer league squad in Orlando, Smith logged just under five minutes during Sunday's contest, before leaving the court for good. The summer exhibition season was seemingly his ticket to a new gig, with a surplus of minutes to go around. However, training camp will ultimately be his next chance to impress greenhorn coach Brad Stevens, after falling out of favor due to the presence of Rookie of the Year Damian Lillard in Portland last season.
