Smith (knee) will likely land with another organization next season, as Portland general manager Neil Olshey stated that Smith requires a "new environment," The Columbian reports.

Smith garnered sporadic playing time in 2012-13, his second NBA campaign, averaging a mere 2.8 points (on 36.8 percent shooting) and 0.9 assists in 7.2 minutes. The presence of rookie standout Damian Lillard, who logged the most run in the NBA this year, surely set back any progress Smith may have made during the offseason. However, both Ronnie Price (before the trade deadline) and Eric Maynor (after his arrival) acted as Lillard's primary backup throughout the season, so Smith clearly didn't earn the trust of Blazers coach Terry Stotts. If Smith, a former first rounder, is unable to find an organization willing to give him a chance, a D-League contract will almost certainly be in the offing for the former Duke standout.
