Report: Glennon felt cheated on by Bears' Trubisky pick

The Chicago Bears have since denied the rumor that their head coach was kept in the dark about their intention to select quarterback Mitch Trubisky early in the 2017 NFL Draft. Bears quarterback Mike Glennon may have been even less in the know, however.

Glennon - asked by the organization to attend the team's draft party at Soldier Field - learned that the Bears would be drafting his successor in the same manner in which the team's fans did. As a result, the free-agent signee felt as though he had been cheated on, according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.

Glennon signed a three-year, $45-million contract this offseason to be Chicago's starting quarterback. Less than two months later, the Bears traded up to the No. 2 pick to draft Trubisky.

Bears general manager Ryan Pace has since announced that Glennon will remain the starter for the 2017 season. He handed the quarterback a contract that contains $18.5 million in guarantees, but it also contains a potential out in which the Bears could cut ties with Glennon after one season and eat just $4.5 million in dead cap money.

As a result of the latest development, Glennon's trust in the Bears' front office has been damaged, Campbell reports.

The veteran of four NFL seasons will have to deliver immediately if he wishes to see out the entirety of his new contract.
