Report: Browns discussed trade with Bengals for McCarron

Despite not drafting a quarterback on Day 1, the Cleveland Browns could still be looking to acquire some depth at the position.

The Browns have discussed a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals for backup AJ McCarron, though talks didn't go far according to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

McCarron appeared in seven games for the Bengals in 2015, including three starts, but he didn't take any snaps the following season. The former Alabama Crimson Tide star was a fifth-round draft pick in 2014.

Cleveland had three first-round picks on Thursday, but declined to fill a need under center. Instead, they drafted defensive end Myles Garrett with the No. 1 overall pick, and then snagged safety Jabrill Peppers at 25, and tight end David Njoku at 29.

The Browns were also rumored to be interested in New England Patriots' backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
