Nationals score record 11 runs in 7th inning vs. Rockies

Chris Humphreys / USA TODAY Sports

The Colorado Rockies are probably looking forward to Friday when the Washington Nationals leave town.

The Nationals sent 15 batters to the plate in the seventh inning of Thursday afternoon's game, scoring 11 runs - both franchise records - to extend the lead to a 15-2 demolition.

Bryce Harper placed the cherry on top of the drubbing with a three-run home run, the only long ball of the inning.

Daniel Murphy and Adam Lind each had two hits in the inning, while Matt Wieters was the only batter not to reach base amid the onslaught. Even pitcher Gio Gonzalez managed to draw a bases loaded walk.

It's the third straight game in the series, following respective 15-12 and 11-4 victories, where the Nationals have plated more than 10 runs over the course of a game.
