Bouchard feels Sharapova should remain banned: 'She's a cheater'

Eugenie Bouchard has fired big-time shots at former idol Maria Sharapova.

With the latter reinstated Wednesday after a 15-month doping suspension, Bouchard doesn't think Sharapova deserves a wild-card entry into next month's French Open - or even a second chance, for that matter.

"I don't think that's right," Bouchard told TRT World. "She's a cheater. I don't think a cheater in any sport should be allowed to play that sport again. It's so unfair to all the other players who do it the right way."

A report Tuesday indicated that Sharapova is unlikely to get a wild card for Roland Garros, and would instead need to qualify. She defeated Roberta Vinci 7-5, 6-3 in the first round of the Stuttgart Open on Wednesday.

Bouchard says allowing the Russian back at all sends an immoral message.

"I think from the WTA it sends the wrong message to young kids, cheat and we'll welcome you back with open arms."
