Report: Lynch to announce Oakland signing at block party Thursday

Joe Nicholson / USA TODAY Sports

The city of Oakland will have plenty of reasons to celebrate when Marshawn Lynch comes home this week.

Lynch will officially end his retirement from the NFL and announce his signing with the Oakland Raiders at an autograph signing/block party Thursday, according to a report from Clarence Hill of The Star-Telegram.

The news broke Wednesday that the 31-year-old Pro Bowl running back is headed to Oakland via a trade from the Seattle Seahawks that could potentially involve an exchange of late-round draft picks.

Lynch retired in February 2016, cryptically tweeting out a photo of his cleats hanging off of a telephone wire to symbolize that his playing career was over. Rumblings of his return began in March 2017 when reports emerged that there was mutual interest between Lynch and his hometown team.

It's unclear exactly when or where Lynch's signing announcement will take place, but it's guaranteed to bring in a massive, elated crowd.
