Report: Northwestern agrees to contract extension with HC Fitzgerald

Northwestern must want a whole lot more of Pat Fitzgerald in its day-to-day football operations, because the university reportedly has locked up its football coach for the next decade.
The 42-year-old, who has run the Wildcats program since being hired in 2006, has agreed to an extension that is reportedly at least 10 years in length, according to Brett McMurphy of ESPN, citing a source.
During his time at Northwestern, Fitzgerald has guided the Wildcats to multiple 10-win campaigns, including two bowl victories, the latest coming last season against Pittsburgh in the Pinstripe Bowl.
Fitzgerald owns an overall record of 77-62 as head coach at Northwestern.
