Happy birthday, Marshawn: 5 of Beast Mode's best moments

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Marshawn Lynch turns 31 on Saturday and he's likely celebrating in his own inimitable style. The superstar running back is entertaining a return to the NFL with his hometown team, discussing a deal with the Oakland Raiders that would lead to a trade from the Seattle Seahawks.

Lynch retired last year but his decorated career still lives vividly in the memories of fans everywhere.

Below are the five best moments from Lynch's career:

Lynch takes a golf cart for a spin

Lynch's charisma was evident long before he took an NFL snap. After leading California to an overtime victory over Washington in October 2006, Lynch jumped into a golf cart and took it for a ride, much to the delight of the student section.

Beast Quake

Although Lynch was a first-round pick in 2007, he didn't become a pop-culture icon until he joined the Seahawks. Lynch put himself on the map with one of the most spectacular runs in NFL history, since dubbed "Beast Quake," during a 2010 playoff game against the New Orleans Saints. Breaking nine tackles and tossing Saints cornerback Tracy Porter to the ground, Lynch's 67-yard touchdown run immediately entered the league canon. Lynch's run invigorated the then-Qwest Field to such a degree that movement around the stadium registered on a seismograph.

Beast Quake 2.0

"Beast Quake 2.0" isn't remembered with the same fervor as his first run, but his unmatched ability to power through contact was on full display against the divisional rival Arizona Cardinals. Lynch took a handoff from Russell Wilson and started to his left, but after combining a stutter-step and hard cut to the right, four Cardinals defenders couldn't account for him as he took off to the outside. Cardinals star Patrick Peterson tried to bring him down, to no avail, as the running back tossed him out of his way while keeping his momentum. Ricardo Lockette blew up Cardinals safety Rashad Johnson and Lynch was off to the races with Alex Okafor just missing him on a diving tackle.

'I'm just 'bout that action, boss!'

Lynch was famously averse to the media over the course of his career, but paradoxically, his interviews live on as cultural moments. Prior to Super Bowl XLVIII, Lynch spoke to NFL Network's Deion Sanders, where he coined the phrase "I'm just 'bout that action, boss." Lynch preferred to let his play do the talking, but he was always good for a spectacular quote, leaving a host of ill-prepared journalists wanting more.

An unmatched celebration

Lynch reached the pinnacle of his career in 2013, helping the Seahawks to a 43-8 rout of the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. Most of Lynch's teammates were predictably exhausted after the contest, celebrating the victory quietly in the locker room.

However, Lynch was having none of it. He took over the team's iPad and set it to Bay Area rapper Philthy Rich's "Ready 2 Ride," dancing up a storm while his teammates and curious journalists looked onward. Lynch appeared to be in pure bliss, donning a red "Beast Mode" tracksuit and a Super Bowl champion towel draped over his backpack, living up the greatest moment of his career as only he could.
