Boston College has made Martin Jarmond the youngest athletic director in a Power 5 conference, hiring him to the post Thursday.

Jarmond, 37, was serving as Ohio State's deputy athletic director when he was poached by the Golden Eagles.

"The opportunity to serve at a top-notch academic institution in the ACC is a dream come true for me," Jarmond stated. "I am passionate about helping young people develop and integrate the intellectual, athletic, social, and spiritual components of their lives."

Jarmond inherits a football and men's basketball program both mired in slumps. The football team hasn't won more than seven games since 2009, while the basketball program hasn't visited the NCAA tournament since that same year.

Boston College will unveil Jarmond at a news conference Monday.
