Texas Tech's Coutee sets sights on Crabtree's 22-TD record

After a breakthrough sophomore campaign, Texas Tech wideout Keke Coutee is looking to do more breaking as a junior, and he's coming after a program alum.

"My top goal right now is to break Michael Crabtree's (school) record of 22 touchdowns in a season," the 5-foot-11 weapon told ESPN's Max Olson. "I set my goal kind of high this year."

Coutee hauled in 890 yards and seven touchdowns worth of passes last season, which, while impressive, pales in comparison to the 1,962 yards and 22 scores Crabtree received in 2007 ... as a freshman.

"You see Crabtree and he won the Biletnikoff two years in a row," Coutee added. "For me, I want to be the best. I decided I want to be remembered when I leave here."

Unlike Crabtree, who had veteran quarterback Graham Harrell at his disposal a decade ago, Coutee heads into the 2017 season unsure of who'll be tossing him the pigskin. Texas Tech needs to replace NFL-bound Patrick Mahomes in the shotgun.

Coutee registered just three receptions and zero touchdowns in the first three games of 2016, but will look for a more explosive start to the 2017 campaign when the Red Raiders square off against Eastern Washington in Week 1.
