Report: NFL won't discipline Talib after closing 2016 shooting investigation

Aqib Talib won't be suspended or fined after the NFL closed its investigation into the June 2016 incident that left the Denver Broncos cornerback with a gunshot wound in his left leg, a source told Tom Pelissero of USA TODAY Sports.

Talib must complete a firearm safety course and will be required to submit a list of his weapons, adds Pelissero.

The veteran corner initially told police he was shot by an unknown assailant, but his lawyer later admitted his client had shot himself.

Talib was not charged with any crime.

The league's investigation concluded that, while Talib's actions constituted conduct detrimental to the league, a disciplinary warning was the appropriate action.

The 31-year-old is due $11 million in 2017, so any multi-game suspension would've been costly.
