Brett Davis / USA TODAY Sports

Hank Aaron joined fellow Atlanta Braves luminaries to open SunTrust Park in advance of Friday night's home opener against the San Diego Padres. Aaron, who played 21 seasons with the franchise between Milwaukee and Atlanta, threw out the first pitch to legendary coach Bobby Cox.

Aaron hit 733 of his 755 home runs with the Braves and remains one of the most recognizable names in franchise history. His reception underscored just how beloved he still is at age 83.

During the ceremony, Atlanta unveiled numbers around the stadium representing Braves greats, many of whom were on hand. A video detailed the storied histories of Aaron, Cox, Warren Spahn, Eddie Matthews, Phil Niekro, Dale Murphy, Tom Glavine, Chipper Jones, John Smoltz, and Greg Maddux - all of whom have had their numbers retired by the team.
