A frustrating day for the New York Mets may be nearly over, but their problems aren't just going to fade away.

After Yoenis Cespedes pulled his hamstring in a game against the Atlanta Braves and was helped off the field Thursday, the Mets are expected to place the outfielder on the disabled list and send him to Florida for rehab, reports ESPN's Buster Olney, citing sources.

Cespedes may receive platelet-rich plasma injections as part of his treatment, reports Olney.

The superstar pulled up during Thursday's contest while running between first and second base. He limped off the field and into the clubhouse, where he was diagnosed with a pull.

Cespedes is expected to undergo an MRI on Friday, according to manager Terry Collins, who didn't sound confident about an early return for the player. "There's no indication for how long it will be," Collins said.

The Cuban outfielder has dealt with hamstring issues more than once this season, missing a series against the Nationals this past weekend with what the team called cramps.

The Mets are already dealing with a barrage of injuries, including DL stints for David Wright, Lucas Duda, Steven Matz, and Seth Lugo, among others.

Before leaving Thursday's contest, Cespedes was leading the team in home runs (six), doubles (four), and OPS (.992).
