Report: Cavaliers to sign Dahntay Jones
For the second year in a row, the Cleveland Cavaliers have reportedly elected to bring aboard veteran Dahntay Jones for their playoff run.
The reigning NBA champions will sign Jones with the open roster spot created following the release of DeAndre Liggins, sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes.
Jones appeared in 15 postseason games en route to Cleveland's first title win, averaging 1.1 points on 46.2 percent shooting in 50 total minutes.
He was suspended for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Toronto Raptors after striking center Bismack Biyombo in the groin late in Game 3 at the Air Canada Centre.
Cleveland waived Jones last July, re-signed him for a couple of preseason appearances, and then waived him again prior to the start of the 2016-17 campaign.
It had been rumored that the Cavaliers were considering using their vacant spot on another former player in big man Anderson Varejao.
