Oklahoma cornerback Jordan Parker will miss eight weeks after undergoing surgery for a stress fracture in his foot, head coach Bob Stoops announced Wednesday.

Parker, a true freshman in 2016, posted 36 tackles and three pass breakups as a rookie, and is expected to be a key cog on the Sooners' defense again in 2017.

Oklahoma is currently staring at a thin secondary following the dismissal of Michiah Quick and indefinite suspension of Parrish Cobb.

The Sooners will open the 2017 campaign Sept. 2 against UTEP.
