Eagles reach 2-year deal with veteran pass-rusher Chris Long

John David Mercer / USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to terms with veteran pass-rusher Chris Long, the team announced.

It's a two-year deal, despite initial reports suggesting the agreement was for only one season.

Long, 32, said earlier this offseason that he enjoyed his time with the Patriots, which ended with a Super Bowl ring, but he's itching to get back to rushing the passer. He was only a rotational player with New England and produced his lowest sack total since his rookie year for a season in which he played all 16 games.

The Eagles represent a good scheme fit for Long, but given his age, he'll likely remain part of a defensive rotation.
