The last time Marcus Mariota was in the public eye, he was being carted off a football field on Christmas Eve with a fractured fibula in his right leg.

A little more than three months later, Mariota is now out of his cast and walking boot and running on the beach in his native Hawaii, he told KHON2 Sports' Rob DeMello.

"It's been incredible," Mariota said of his recovery process back home. "The opportunity to come home, to relax, to see family ... it really rejuvenates me. It gives me an opportunity to get healthy mentally along with getting healthy physically. ... This process has been really good. I'm in a good spot."

Mariota received a recovery timeline of four-to-five months after he suffered his injury in the penultimate game of the regular season. He believes he'll be healthy by the time his Titans next take the field.

"As long as I continue on this path, I'll be ready to go once fall comes around," he said.

Mariota enjoyed a superb sophomore season in 2016, throwing for 3,426 yards and 26 touchdowns to just nine interceptions while leading the Titans to an 8-7 record before his injury.
