Report: Duquesne hires Akron's Keith Dambrot as new head coach

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Duquesne has found its new head coach, as sources told ESPN's Jeff Goodman Monday that the school has hired Akron's Keith Dambrot on a seven-year deal to be the program's new frontman.

The 58-year-old has been with the Zips since 2004, posting a very impressive 305-139 record with the MAC school. Dambrot led the program to a 53-18 mark in the past two seasons, but failed to qualify for the NCAA tournament both years after losses in the conference tournament.

Duquesne decided not to retain head coach Jim Ferry after the Dukes struggled to a 10-22 record this past season, finishing last in the A-10 conference. Ferry posted a 60-97 record in his five years with the program.
