Rahm, Johnson advance to WGC-Match Play finals

Erich Schlegel-USA TODAY Sports

Jon Rahm against Dustin Johnson was the final most were craving Saturday evening when the semifinals were set, and now we have it.

Rahm took down Bill Haas 3-and-2 to reach the final in his first WGC-Match Play appearance. The Spaniard and Haas were tied after 12 holes, but Rahm birdied two of his next three and then rolled in a 7-foot putt for another birdie at the 16th to close out the match.

"All day both of us played great," Rahm told pgatour.com. "The front nine, we went a little bit back-and-forth, we both made our putts. On the back nine, we kept playing good, we just weren't making the putts until I made that one on 13, and that gave me confidence."

Dustin Johnson was pushed to the 18th hole for the first time all week against Hideto Tanihara. With the match tied and two holes remaining, Johnson hit a gorgeous tee shot at the par-3 17th to grab a 1-up lead. The world No. 1 then stroked home an 8-foot putt to close out the 54th seed and advance.

Haas and Tanihara aren't done for the day, as will vie for third place.
