Spurrier pulling for Florida in Elite Eight matchup vs. South Carolina

Mark Zerof-USA TODAY Sports

Florida and South Carolina are set to collide Sunday on the second day of Elite Eight matchups, and the "Head Ball Coach" appears to be staying neutral with his support.

Former Gators and Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier kept things close to the vest when current Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Pharoh Cooper asked him who he would be rooting for in Sunday's game. Cooper played for Spurrier at South Carolina from 2013-15, and was undoubtedly looking to garner some support for his alma mater.

Spurrier wasn't budging.

Spurrier later clarified his allegiance, telling Pat Dooley of The Gainesville Sun that he will be cheering on the Gators, "but if South Carolina wins I won't be too disappointed."

Spurrier currently serves as an ambassador and consultant for Florida's athletic department, but will not be attending the game because hes currently out of the country, according to Ralph D. Russo of The Associated Press.
