4-star Washington signee Daejon Davis asks for release

Gary A. Vasquez-US PRESSWIRE

The exodus of top recruits from Washington in the wake of Lorenzo Romar's firing looks set to continue, as four-star guard Daejon Davis told Jeff Borzello of ESPN that he's asked the school for his release.

The Seattle product joins the top-ranked player in the country, Michael Porter Jr., in asking for his release this week. Porter committed to Missouri just days after Washington freed him from his letter of intent.

Davis is ranked the 11th-best shooting guard in the class of 2017, and the 44th-best prospect in the country on the ESPN 100. He held offers from Gonzaga, Oregon, and Stanford, as well as the Huskies, but could easily follow Porter to Missouri.

Provided the school grants Davis his release, that would leave new coach Mike Hopkins with just two recruits left for the class of 2017.
