Report: Eagles withdraw 4 of 5 proposed rule changes

Geoff Burke / USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles were one of only two teams in the NFL to propose more than one rule change for owners to vote upon at the upcoming league meeting, but the club has now reportedly withdrawn the majority of its proposals.

After getting feedback from the NFL's competition committee, the Eagles have withdrawn four of the five changes they put forward, league sources told Dave Zangaro of CSNPhilly.com.

The lone proposal remaining would make it illegal for players to leap over the line to block field goals or extra points.

The four withdrawn proposals include the following:

  • allowing additional protections for long snappers on kick plays
  • expanding the "crown of helmet" foul to include the "hairline" part of the helmet
  • amending the challenge system by granting a third challenge if a club is successful on at least one of its initial two
  • allowing teams to use alternate-color helmets
