Danica Patrick asks NASCAR to refund fine from 2015

Danica Patrick is asking NASCAR to give her back a $50,000 fine she paid for hitting an opponent's car while under caution in October 2015 after Xfinity Series driver Austin Dillon was not disciplined for a similar incident last Saturday.

"Give me my money back," Patrick bluntly told ESPN's Bob Pockrass.

Patrick went on to explain that she feels fines for these kinds of situations are unnecessary altogether. In her mind, drivers should be able to handle these disputes themselves, so there's no need for the governing body to step in.

"NASCAR makes a really big mistake of fining for some stuff, especially like something that happens in the car because it makes for good TV, just like fights and all that stuff," she said. "We can handle it. ... I've been fined a few times. It makes for good TV, and we handle it on the track ourselves.

"I'd rather (no fine) be the standard. What does that really do? I'm not going to not go on vacation."

Patrick also took issue with a $20,000 fine levied against her by NASCAR in 2015, though she stopped short of asking for that money back as well.
