Rhode Island's Hurley confirms E.C. Matthews will return next season

Rhode Island's hopes of returning to the NCAA tournament next season got a little brighter Friday when head coach Dan Hurley announced that leading scorer E.C. Matthews will be returning for his senior season, according to ESPN's Jeff Goodman.
The redshirt junior proved to be a vital component of Rhode Island's first NCAA tournament berth since 1999, as he netted over 20 points on eight different occasions including a 31-point outburst over Houston on Dec. 10.
Matthews led all Rams players with 14.9 points to go along with 4.3 rebounds over 29.3 minutes last season.
