LaVar's latest claim: Lonzo is 'Magic with a jump shot'

The marketing genius and human hot-take machine known as LaVar Ball is on the war path once again.

LaVar appeared on ESPN's "First Take" to banter with the outspoken Stephen A. Smith, and naturally, fireworks ensued. The 20-minute discussion drew yet another outlandish claim from LaVar, with respect to his son and prospective No. 1 pick Lonzo Ball out of UCLA.

"Lonzo (would) have that same impact Magic (Johnson) had. I'm trying to tell you. Same impact," LaVar said, before upping the ante later on.

"He'll be better than Magic, how's that?"

Moments later, when the "First Take" panelists collected themselves after some uproar over the comparison to Magic, the question was popped as to how Lonzo's game compares stylistically to NBA greats.

Again, LaVar brought up the Los Angeles Lakers president, who might find himself in position to select Lonzo in the upcoming draft.

"Lonzo was Magic with a jump shot," LaVar said. "What I mean by that is everybody wants to play with him. The winning, the running, the long passes. They tried to compare him to Jason Kidd, but if you look at it he's more like Penny Hardaway (with his) size, length, style."

To recap: Lonzo is already better than Stephen Curry and will eventually surpass a top-10 all-time player in Magic Johnson. Those claims are certainly bold, but given LaVar would purportedly beat Michael Jordan in a game of one-on-one, those genes might be good for all these claims.
