BYU's Eric Mika declares for NBA draft, will not sign with agent
BYU sophomore Eric Mika announced on Wednesday he will declare for the 2017 NBA Draft, but will not sign with an agent, thus keeping his college eligibility intact.
"I'm excited to declare for the NBA draft and I'm looking forward to the process," Mika said. "I have every intention of pursuing this opportunity with the hope of impressing NBA teams. I will work hard over the next several weeks to put myself in a position to be drafted. I'm optimistic about my chances."
As a sophomore, Mika averaged 20.3 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks, leading the Cougars to 22 wins and a spot on the All-West Coast Conference first team.
Those numbers were improvements over his freshman season, when Mika averaged 11.8 points and 6.5 rebounds.
In the Cougars' upset win over then-No. 1 Gonzaga this season, the 6-foot-10, 230-pound forward scored 29 points, while grabbing 11 rebounds.
