Steve Alford: 'Absolutely 100 percent not going to Indiana'

Steve Alford will not be returning to his Alma mater as head coach, as the UCLA frontman confirmed Friday that he will not be taking the Indiana job.

"Absolutely 100 percent not going to Indiana," Alford told ESPN's Jeff Goodman after the Bruins Sweet 16 loss to Kentucky. "Staying at UCLA. I am happy. Love it here. Have a great class coming in and a brand-new facility. Obviously, I love my Alma mater, (but I'm) committed to UCLA. I am not going to talk to Indiana. I am staying a Bruin."

Alford's name had been rumored for the position since the Hoosiers fired Tom Crean last week. He starred for Indiana under the legendary Bob Knight in the late 1980's, winning a national championship in 1987.

With his son Bryce graduating, and a number of players headed for the NBA draft, including star guard Lonzo Ball, many thought Alford might be interested in leaving the Pac-12 to come home, but it appears that will not be the case.
