45-year-old hopes to walk on at Clemson

It's never too late to live out your dreams. Just ask 45-year-old Greg Morris.

Morris is attempting to walk on at Clemson as a defensive back, despite the practical impossibility of him suiting up for the defending national champion, and participated in open auditions for walk-ons Monday.

The electrician enrolled at Clemson to pursue a bachelor's degree in world languages with an emphasis on American Sign Language, and decided to try out for the football team.

"I tell my wife, I say, 'What if I was a walk-on last year and made the team and was able to get a national championship?'" Morris said to Grace Raynor of The Post and Courier. "It would be amazing. It's an opportunity that was given, and just being able to make it would be a dream come true."

It's not unprecedented for a mature student to suit up at the NCAA level. Last season, 55-year-old Joe Thomas Sr. debuted at running back for South Carolina State.
