Watch: Did Seton Hall get hosed on controversial flagrant foul?

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

Arkansas outlasted Seton Hall in Friday's opening round of the NCAA tournament, but the win certainly has to come with an asterisk after a terrible decision by the referees in the final seconds.

With the Pirates trailing by one and 18 seconds remaining, Desi Rodriguez fouled Jaylen Barford, as anyone in that situation would. Unfortunately, as the Seton Hall standout fouled his opponent, he inadvertently clipped Barford's ankle, sending him crashing to the floor.

Despite the benefit of replay, the officials inexplicably decided to slap Rodriguez with a flagrant foul, giving Arkansas two shots and the ball. Barford would hit both free throws, and Seton Hall would have to foul on the ensuing inbound pass.

Daryl Macon would make one of two from the line, pushing the lead to four points, which would be too much to overcome in such little time.

"I didn't realize how hard I pushed him, but I thought it was a basketball play. It wasn't intentional," Rodriguez told Jeff Goodman of ESPN following the game.

Even without the flagrant ruling, Arkansas may have held on to the three-point lead, but Seton Hall certainly deserved the chance to sink a game-tying triple.
