The New York Jets are expected to sign free-agent cornerback Morris Claiborne, a league source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The 27-year-old played the best football of his career with the Dallas Cowboys in 2016 before going down with a groin injury in Week 8. He notched 26 tackles, five pass deflections, and one interception in seven games.

Claiborne has been a member of the Cowboys for his entire five-year career after being drafted sixth overall by the team in 2012.

He reportedly received interest from Baltimore in free agency, but the Ravens filled their need at cornerback by signing Claiborne's former Cowboys teammate Brandon Carr on Thursday.

Claiborne will likely be asked to start at cornerback for the Jets opposite Buster Skrine.
