Ohio State center Trevor Thompson will bypass his senior season and declare for the 2017 NBA Draft, he told Jeff Goodman of ESPN.

"I feel I am ready to take the next step," Thompson said. "I am close to graduating and want to devote everything I can to my dream of playing in the NBA."

The 7-footer averaged 10.6 points and 9.2 rebounds for the Buckeyes this season, and was thrust into a larger role following the season-ending injury to Keita Bates-Diop.

Thompson threw his name into the draft pool last year but didn't hire an agent, which allowed him to return to Ohio State.
