Report: Vikings scheduled to meet with Jared Cook

Kevin Jairaj / USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Vikings have scheduled a free-agent visit with veteran tight end Jared Cook, Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports.

Cook has the opportunity to test the open market for the second time in as many offseasons after playing out a one-year contract with the Green Bay Packers.

A new deal in Green Bay initially seemed possible, but the addition of Martellus Bennett ensured that he'd be moving on to another team.

Whether he ends up meeting with Minnesota will depend on whether he leaves Seattle without a deal, as the Seahawks are already hosting him on an official visit Tuesday.

Injuries limited Cook to 10 games during his lone season in Green Bay, but he was a reliable target for Aaron Rodgers when on the field.

Landing Cook to pair with Kyle Rudolph would provide the Vikings' offense with some added flexibility and matchup advantages for two tight-end sets.
