It appears Tremont Waters won't be taking his talents to Georgetown, after all.

The four-star point guard is asking for his release from the Hoyas, his father told Adam Finkelstein of ESPN. Waters is a highly coveted prospect from the 2017 class, ranking 33rd on the ESPN 300 and regarded as the top player from the state of Connecticut.

In addition to Georgetown, Waters was also being pursued by Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, among others.

It's unclear why Waters wants out of his commitment, but Georgetown has missed the NCAA tournament in two consecutive seasons, and the future of coach John Thompson III isn't exactly on solid footing.
