Nets, Knicks battle in sixth-priciest game at Barclays Center since 2012

This weekend’s Nets-Knicks game is still commanding big ticket prices despite both teams’ struggles this season.

With the league-worst Nets set to host the crosstown rival Knicks at Barclays Center, Sunday’s game is the sixth most expensive meeting between the teams since the Nets moved to Brooklyn in 2012.

On TicketIQ, a search engine that pools tickets and data from over 90 percent of the resale market, Nets vs. Knicks tickets are now averaging $280. The cheapest tickets are now listed from $60 each in the 200 sections.

The two teams met in their priciest Barclays Center game on November 26, 2012. Tickets averaged $486 and the get-in price was $146. With the Nets permanently moving from New Jersey earlier that season, it served as the first official meeting between the two teams in Brooklyn.

Only one other regular season game at Barclays Center averaged a higher ticket price than the first Nets-Knicks game in 2012. That came against the Warriors on December 6, 2015, where tickets owned a $527 average.

The Nets return home to host the Knicks following a seven-game road trip that ends in Dallas Friday night.

They stand at 11-52 on the season and are still in search of their first divisional win (0-10) entering Sunday’s game with the Knicks.

The Knicks have had their own share of struggles on and off the court this season. They’ll travel across the East River and complete a four game road stand when they battle the Nets. Playoff hopes are still alive in Manhattan, however, as the Knicks (26-39) sit just 5.5 games behind the eighth-seeded Bulls (31-33).
