Stenson posts 64 at Valspar after WD in Mexico
Henrik Stenson had a far better opening round Thursday at the Valspar Championship than he did last week at the WGC-Mexico.
Stenson withdrew after just 11 holes due to a stomach virus in Mexico, while Thursday he posted a 7-under 64 at Innisbrook Resort.
"I wasn't feeling too bouncy early in the week," Stenson told pgatour.com. "Even went back, during the fog delay, and had a sleep in the clubhouse for half hour, but once I got on the golf course I was fine."
The Swede made seven birdies - and no bogeys - in Thursday's round, and needed just 26 putts on the day.
"I'm very happy with the way I putted, I think the short game was tidy," he said.

The world No. 6 player has had success in his two previous appearances at the Valspar Championship - finishing fourth and tied for eleventh - and enjoys the Copperhead Course setup.
"It's been kind of the same game plan since I first came here. It's a lot of positioning off the tee, a lot of mid-irons into the greens, which suits me when I'm hitting it nicely," Stenson said.
He trails Jim Herman by two shots, after the American carded a 9-under 62.
