Arkansas replaces Michigan with Colorado State on 2018 schedule
Arkansas has filled Michigan's vacated spot on its 2018 schedule with a road contest against Colorado State.
The Razorbacks were originally slated to play the Wolverines in a home-and-home series for the 2018 and 2019 seasons, but Michigan pulled out last July. Arkansas then added a home game against the Rams to fill the vacant spot in its 2019 schedule, and will use the Mountain West program to fill the 2018 spot as well.
"We are appreciative of the assistance of the SEC and Colorado State in filling the scheduling void created by the cancellation of a home-and-home series with a Big Ten opponent," athletic director Jeff Long said in a statement. "Colorado State is an outstanding program with a beautiful new football stadium."
The Razorbacks, who will travel to Colorado State on Sept. 8 of the 2018 season, had to secure a special waiver from the SEC to allow the matchup against a non-Power 5 conference program. League rules state that each program must play a non-conference game against a Power 5 opponent each season, but the lack of time made that impossible for Arkansas.
