PGA Tour Power Rankings: Texas Open

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The tour heads to the Lone Star State this week for the Valero Texas Open, with 156 players teeing it up at the AT&T Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio.

Here are 10 players to keep an eye on at one of the oldest events on the PGA Tour:

10. Daniel Summerhays

Summerhays has three top-seven results and a T-13 showing last year. The Utah native has made the cut the last two weeks, finishing T-46 at the Masters.

9. Kevin Chappell

Chappell had a runner-up finish in 2011 and a T-4 placing last year. The 30-year-old had a good weekend two weeks ago at the Masters, carding rounds of 70 and 68 for a T-7 result.

8. Adam Hadwin

Hadwin missed the cut in his first tournament of the year, but that's been it. The Canadian is clearly playing with a lot of confidence, posting a win and three other top-10 results this season. Hadwin has only played the Texas Open once, missing the cut in 2015.

7. Ryan Palmer

The Texan couldn't make a cut to start the year, but had a T-11 finish last week at Harbour Town. Palmer has three top-10 results at TPC San Antonio, including a T-4 last year.

6. Brooks Koepka

After a rough start to the season, Koepka's game is starting to come around, with a T-9 finish at the WGC-Match Play and a T-11 placing in the Masters. He's also one of the longest drivers of the ball on tour, an advantage at a course that is almost 7500 yards.

5. Billy Horschel

The Florida native missed the cut at the RBC Heritage, but his wife gave birth to their second child on Wednesday afternoon. Horschel has three top-five finishes in the last four years at the event. He is also a very good wind player, a huge asset when playing in Texas.

4. Brendan Steele

Steele has four top-15 finishes at TPC San Antonio, including a win back in 2011. The 34-year-old hasn't missed a cut all season, and tied for 27th at the Masters.

3. Jimmy Walker

A winner of the tournament two years ago, beating Jordan Spieth by four strokes. Walker has missed the cut three times since 2011, but does have a T-3 outcome in 2010 and has made seven straight cuts.

2. Matt Kuchar

Kuchar finished in a tie for fourth place in 2014, and comes in playing great golf, with a T-4 at Augusta and final-round 64 at the RBC Heritage last week.

1. Charley Hoffman

Hoffman has a stellar record at TPC San Antonio, including a win last year over Patrick Reed. The 40-year-old has never finished worse than a tie for 13th since 2010. Hoffman's game has been solid lately, despite a missed cut last week at Harbour Town.
